About

My career in decorating began in 1977 as a painter in the outskirts of Chicago. Within a year the demand for wallpaper induced me to learn the craft and it has been an integral part of my skillset ever since. Having studied with some of the best craftsman in the business my skills also include, fine painting, faux finishing, Venician plaster and wood and furniture restoration.

I am the proud parent of two amazing children and even prouder grandfather of five beautiful grandchildren. My son Jamie has followed in my footsteps and is actively hanging wallpaper in the Chicago area.

As an avid traveler and abstract artist I spend my winter months in different parts of the world exploring our beautiful planet and painting my experiences. In January of 2020 I landed in Bali . In March came to New Zealand for a visit and remained for the lockdown and fell in love with the land and its people. I’m now embarking on a journey of discovery and hope to ply my trade here and where ever my profession takes me.

As a side note: I am a practitioner of the healing arts and love reading, meditating and physical activity. I also appreciate fine food, good wine and conversation. I look forward to meeting new clients and creating beautiful spaces for them to enjoy.

Sincerely yours, David Dillinger / Wallpaper Artisan
